Moshville Oktoberfest: Band announcements – Catalysis and Melted Messiah

The time has come to start announcing the final bands that will be playing for Moshville Oktoberfest 2023! We’ll be bringing bands from the underground scene that we think you deserve to see live – that’s what we’ve been all about since Day One! We have featured several Metal to the Masses winners and attendees of Bloodstock, so it felt right to bring some to you on Saturday October 7th in Glasgow, at Ivory Blacks.

We were humbled by the number and the calibre of bands that had applied to us in the last month or so, so we at Moshville Times thank you for applying and believe us when we say that this was not an easy decision for us when deciding on the two bands who shall play.

First off, we have Dundee-based metalcore/groove/thrash metal band Catalysis who were Metal to the Masses winners in Scotland in 2022. Very active in the music scene in Scotland promoting shows in Dundee and very active in releasing music – an impressive number of releases since their inception in 2016. Having guests on their songs such as Phil Demmel (Vio-lence, ex-Machine head) and Joey Radziwill (Sacred Reich) shows the calibre this band has within the metal scene. Having seen them perform at this year’s Scottish Metal to the Masses, I can confirm we are in for a blistering set from these metal titans. You already know this though as they have played numerous gigs over Scotland and beyond, so another time on October 7th will be something to remember.

The final application that we agreed on were Dunfermline-based blackened stoner/sludge/doom with jazz duo Melted Messiah. Having been active for ten years now, it’s only in the last couple of years that Melted Messiah have released a couple of albums to strong acclaim. Melted Messiah have garnered a strong following in the underground and we thought it right to give you something different on the bill… and melted Messiah were the chosen ones. Their last album Some Good Riffs is a bold title for an album, but one that definitely fits the bill. If you like your blackened sludge, doom, stoner with jazz influences, Melted Messiah are for you. Again, I really look forward to their set and I know you will too, on October 7th.
