Band of the Day: Bleed Again

With a new single due out around now, what better time for Bleed Again’s vocalist, Jamie, to tell us a bit more about the band?

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

We are from Brighton, UK.

How did you meet?

Me and Simon met in collage and further down the line we met Sam, Jordan and Chris through shows and sharing the stage.

How long have you been playing as a band?

Bleed Again has been playing shows for around 10 years, however we didn’t even consider taking this seriously until we decided to tour in 2015, which is where we started making a name for ourselves

Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?

It’s about reliving past pain and times of darkness. I know that when i write about specific hard times, each night i relive that bad past and it helps me to move on.

What are your influences?

Everything from Linkin Park to Killswitch Engage, Metallica, Megadeth to Hatebreed, Architects, Polaris, Lamb Of God.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

I think were unique in the sense that we are still pushing this mid 2000’s metalcore vibe with current hints thrown in. A lot of bands sound the same these days and I think we have a sound that everyone relates to and knows yet we have a fresh spin on it

Do you have any particular lyrical themes?

I mainly write about personal situations and my themes will be of that time period. They do tend to be about self-preservation and fighting to stay on track with your dreams.

What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?

I think we have played around 30-40 shows a year for the past 5 years so.. we do get around! We tend to give it 110% regardless stage or crowd size. Every possible new fan is important to us.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

I saw a band called Society 1 at Download Festival in 2005. The singer did body suspension in form of hooks pierced through his back and his swung above the crowd and did a couple of songs. This was around midday and it was quite shocking but entertaining all the same

What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?

Maypex Mars Bonewood Kit, Strandberg and ESP guitars and Ibanez bass. Shure wireless microphone.

What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?

Our new single “Survive” which is released on July 31st.

What are your plans for 2020?

We are finishing up album number two which is due in for mixing in November. We also have some cool live stuff planned where its safe.

When you get back to touring – if you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!

I would like to be supporting someone like Bleed From Within as i feel their fans could gravitate towards our music. Opening id have someone like As Flames Rise on that bill, or if it was a different headliner, id have our brothers in Seething Akira.
