Finland – land of Lordi, saunas, expensive alcohol and Beastmilk. You may not have heard of them, but they’re getting some good reports in the popular press and, from what I’ve heard, it’s deserved.
Their debut album, Climax, is due out on December 2nd and in the meantime there are a couple of tracks such as the single “Fear Your Mind” kicking about which you can listen to. I’ve heard the whole album and it’s not bad. Not bad at all.
Beastmilk are definitely more in the “rock” than “metal” arenas and have quite the downtrodden yet rebellious sound to them. It’s described as “post punk” and there’s no denying it has that attitude and influence.
As ever, the best way to determine whether it’s any good is to give it a listen. “Fear Your Mind” is below and the links will take you to other tracks to sample before deciding whether to cough up your hard earned pennies in a month’s time.
