If you struggling to decide which festival to attend this summer, we would like to complicate matters further and throw another contender into the ring. Nova Rock in Austria might just be the perfect combination of summer holiday and four-day festival to tempt you to get on a plane.
With an already very tempting lineup announced, the organizers have squeezed an extra eleven bands to the already jam-packed line up in recent days. New additions to the line up in day order include:
- Thursday – The Sisters of Mercy, Palaye Royale, Kerry King, Donots, Alien Weaponry
- Friday – Azahriah
- Saturday – P.O.D., Blond, The Amazons
- Sunday – Escape the Fate
With now what looks like the full festival lineup being announced we take a look at who we are looking forward to seeing on each day.
Thursday’s lineup is bound to get the long weekend off to a brilliant start with the likes of Manchester’s Hot Milk set to open one of the festivals main stages, with other names such as Silverstein, Donots, Palaye Royale, Cory Taylor and Billy Talent likely to impress during the day. Hopefully the headline slots on the main stages and the smaller Red Bull stage will be staggered in time as we would love to see Smash Into Pieces playing their headline slot on the Red Bull stage before running across the festival site to see Green Day. We have been following Smash Into Pieces for a while now and they are currently competing in Sweden’s Melodifestivalen, which if they win will see the band represent the country in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest alongside previous tour mates Cyan Kicks who are representing neighbouring country Finland.

The great lineup of bands continues over the next few days with big names such as Avenged Sevenfold and Maneskin headlining and other names including Parkway Drive, Pendulum, Neck Deep, Avril Lavigne, Steel Panther and Against The Current likely to be on our list of bands that we will be heading to see. Saturday will also see the end of an era with Sum 41 playing their last festival show in Austria on their final tour before calling it a day.
Saving what I personally think is the best until last, the Sunday lineup for the made stage features several my favourite bands including Escape The Fate, Black Stone Cherry, Bad Omens and Bring Me The Horizon. We will also be heading up to the Red Bull stage for an appearance from Normandie, who’s latest single ‘Serotonin’ has been on repeat since it was released a few weeks ago.
We also can’t wait to return to the food stalls at the festival, which we can honestly say is without a doubt some of the best food we’ve ever eaten at a music festival, especially for value compared to the UK festivals we’ve been to.

If all this has got you tempted to join us at Nova Rock in 2024, flights from a number of UK airports are available to either Viena or Bratislava airport which are both a short drive to the festival site and tickets for the festival are available to purchase from the website (although selling out fast!).
