Light The Skies’ “Human” EP is out now

UK post hardcore crew Light The Skies have just released their explosive new EP Human and it’s an absolute beast.

Sounding like the backwater cousins of Bring Me The Horizon, Don Broco and August Burns Red, Light The Skies have engineered a style that unites hooky choruses with expansive and inventive guitar work, and a muscular rhythm section that will blow the roof off. The Midlanders have a genuinely unique and eclectic sound that is highlighted on their current EP Human, out everywhere now.

light-the-skies-humanFormed during their college days in 2013 and coming at you from Birmingham, Light The Skies soon forged a sturdy bond and hit the live circuit. The melodic metallers spread their wings, racking up a series of successful shows in London, Yorkshire, the North West and throughout the Midlands, as well as supports with Ghost Town, Palisades, Boy Jumps Ship, Alverez Kings, Scream Blue Murder, Lock & Key, Beyond Recall and Templeton Pek. The band then proceeded to bunker down in preparation for their new EP, entitled Human.

The EP propels to life with the ferocious opener “Animals”, which boasts meaningful guitar lines, magnificently layered vocals and progressive phrasing. Next up, their recent single “Distractions” (scroll down for a listen) continues to ignite with its hypnotic chorus and nifty arrangement. The pounding groove and dynamic “Acclimate” then comes over you with stabbing riffs and a colossal refrain that will hang in the air for eons. The record then presses on with the uplifting and catchy “Looking Back”, before “Ourselves” shifts the mood with its acoustic flavouring and texturing. The brilliant “Distance” closes the EP, balancing melodic hooks with razor sharp riffery, as the cut draws proceedings to a fitting conclusion. With a tour set to be announced for early 2017, the band are sure to rise.
