Continuing our run of letting you know a little more about as many of the bands on at Bloodstock 2025 as we possibly can before you get a chance to see them, we have Turin. This bunch play on the Sophie Lancaster Stage on the Friday.
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We’ve had the same jam room in Cheshire since we started. We live a little more spread out than that, but that’s our central home.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
We’ve been playing together for the best part of 20 years in various iterations, but we’ve been TURIN for about three years now.
Where does the name of the band come from?
We used to be This Is Turin, which came from Most Haunted Live where they were investigating black magic and the gates of hell in the city of Turin, and the tagline on the trailer said “This is hell, This is Turin”. When we signed to MNRK Heavy before released our album The Unforgiving Reality In Nothing, we condensed it down to TURIN
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We take inspiration from classic and modern death metal as well as other genres like post-metal, film scores and black metal while still keeping the hooks that keep you listening.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
It’s intense, raw and emotional – we leave everything on stage.

Have you played Bloodstock before? If so, when?
We’ve been fortunate enough to have played twice before. Once in 2013 when we won the Manchester M2TM, and then again in 2016 on the Sophie stage.
How/when did you find out that you’d be playing the SOPHIE stage?
We were approached by Bloodstock after our album was released. We can’t wait to play our new songs to that audience again.
What sort of setlist can we expect?
Heavy and short, just like our drummer!
Stage times haven’t been announced yet, so which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
We doubt Gojira will be clashing with us so we’re happy about that! We want to see Paleface Swiss – they’ve got a lot of hype and put on an awesome show.
What are you working on at the moment?
We’re well into writing for our next release, and planning to get on the road later in the year.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
On the last tour we played, a lad stripped down to his boxers, ran in the pit, and lasted 5 seconds before he managed to knock himself out cold. Show stopped, paramedics called, thankfully he woke up after a while.
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
Pre-workout, sparkling water, black coffee, and a couple of beers.
