Dead of Winter Fest interview: Malediction

Dead of Winter Fest has been and gone but the stench and memories from this event will live long in the memory. From a band saying that they played the best show in their thirty year live career to showing that the future is bright with new bands showcasing what there is within the UK death metal scene. A long near-twelve hour day was had but right from the very start, Ivory Blacks in Glasgow was sold out and it was a pleasure to see so many old and new faces in the crowd.

Last but not least of our interviews was none other than the headliners Malediction. These guys have been plying their trade since 1990 and to see Ivory Blacks and Scotland appreciate all the hard work at Dead of Winter was truly heart warming. Considering Shaun had been suffering with throat cancer and only got his voice back in September, he put on a top notch performance. It’s great to see the old guard remind everyone where it all began for death metal and they certainly flew the death metal flag high. Just don’t take so long to play Glasgow again!
