#RoadToBOA2019 – Victus

It’s that time of year again, when in the run-up to Bloodstock we endeavour to interview every band gracing the SOPHIE, New Blood and Jägermeister stages from 8th – 11th August 2019. This means you’ve got a chance to read up on all your favourite bands set to play over the weekend and decide which new ones you’ll want to check out.

As ever, we’re predicting some horrible clashes because, true to form, there are some great bands across all three stages so you should start planning who you want to see.

Our thanks to all the bands / artists for taking the time out to answer our questions!

Victus – Jagermeister Stage – Sunday

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

Portsmouth, South England.

How long have you been playing together as a band?

We’ve been playing together for roughly three years.

Where does the name of the band come from?

Victusis a Latin word with multiple meanings but the one we feel is suited to us is “way of life”.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

We bring a multitude of influences from varying genres. We have sludgy, doom, groove elements but we never decided to be a certain type of band, we each bring varied inspirations and styles to the table which creates our sound.

What’s our live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?

We’re a relentless group, stopping at nothing to provide a high impact live experience full of non-stop energy and head slamming opportunities. We just want to entertain you…let us entertain you!

Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?

A few of us have been to Bloodstock before and we always enjoy it – we get to see killer bands we grew up with and see plenty of new bands too. Festival atmospheres are always great. I’m looking forward to going this year.

When/how did you find out you’d been selected to play at Bloodstock?

After getting to the final of M2tM Bournemouth, we were invited by Mr. Simon Hall.

What sort of setlist can we expect?

Our set is much constructed as a journey of highs and lows. We try to create a story seamlessly connected but still differing in between songs.

Which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?

Rotting Christ, one of our favourite bands!

What are you working on at the moment?

We are currently working on next release. Stay tuned!

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

At Metaldays we once saw an old man wearing nothing but a chain mail top and a Santa hat throwing shapes in the pit! We saw him throughout the festival passed out in different locations.

What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?

Usually some beers but if we are wanting to get fired up quick, we’ll slam a few vodkas or small-batch bourbons!
