Rock the Coast is kicking off in four weeks in Malaga – sun, sand, sea and loads of rock and metal. The line-up is superb and we’ve managed to snaffle a couple of lead-up interviews with some of the bands. One of the acts to answer our call are Conception, a band originally active in the 80’s and 90s (I have a couple of their CDs in a cupboard from that era), they reformed last year and will be treating Spain to a hell of a set…
We hail from the city of Gjøvik, Norway. City by Norwegian standards that is…
How did you meet?
We met through fellow musicians in the local area.
How long have you been playing as a band?
As long as we can remember ;)
Before you get sick of being asked where does the band name come from?
“Conception” is the the forming of an idea. And everything starts with an idea…
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We always write from the heart, always curious to develop and explore new ways of expressing ourselves. The combination of four very different and complementary personalities makes us unique.
Our live shows are emotional and energetic. We have lost count of how many shows we have done.
What’s the wildest thing youve seen or done at a live show?
We hired a local MC club as security guards for one of our very first gigs, and things got out of hand. The leader fell asleep in the bass element of the PA, and the stage guard bit off the ear of one of the guys in the audience.
Is this your first time playing in Spain, or on a festival stage?
We have been playing festivals before, but are really excited to bring Conception to Spain for the very first time!
What are you looking forward to most about Rock The Coast?
Having a blast with our Spanish fans on a spectacular site!
What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?
We released our brand new EP My Dark Symphony at the end of last year, and there are exciting things just ahead of us!
