After including a cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes” in their Global Spirit Tour set list in Europe and North America, Depeche Mode today released a video of their haunting, emotionally-charged version of the song.
While Depeche Mode maybe don’t fit within our usual remit, this version of the Bowie classic is every bit as good as the recently released Motörhead version, while being suitably different and very much in Depeche Mode’s own style. Frankly, it sent shivers down my spine and I just had to share it!
The visual, directed by Tim Saccenti, features Depeche Mode in an intimate studio setting and is one of the stripped-back performance films Saccenti made during the recording of Spirit in 2016.
