Headline Act: Chaoshorde

Sometimes you just need a blast of something heavy and furious. All the way from Greece are a two-piece who are making just this kind of music. So wrap your eyes around this feature, and your ears around the sample at the bottom…

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

Hello and thanks for the feature! We hail from a small city of central Greece, called Lamia. However, the band was formed in Rethymno, Crete were we were located throughout our university studies.

How did you meet?

We knew each other since we were children. We practically grew with each other, sharing common music taste and interests. We were even roommates in our University years.

How long have you been playing as a band?

The idea of Chaoshorde was living in our minds since very long time, however it wasn’t before 2016, when we started taking things more seriously and started working on our material.

Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?

As for the Chaos, it depicts many of the things that this band stands for. Among others, the beauty of disorder, going against normality, the chaotic nature of our music, etc. As for the other part of the name, at this time we played World of Warcraft a lot (FOR THE HOOORDE!!!)

What are your influences?

We try get inspired by various things, musically and beyond, but if we were to mention some of the bands that gave birth to Chaoshorde the list would go as following: Desaster, Aura Noir, Deathhammer, Slaughtered Priest, Razor, Gehennah, Destroyer 666, Nocturnal, Midnight, Bewitched, Venom, Nifelheim and many more which at the time I cannot recall.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

Our music is a find blend of speed and thrash (mainly European style) with a black metal aura.In addition, we are always true to our old school roots. The listener may notice many influences from the classic heavy metal scene (mostly NWOBHM). Thus, the final outcome of all of the above is what makes the Chaoshorde sound unique.

Do you have any particular lyrical themes?

Some of the themes we cover are metal, anti-religion, blasphemy, personal struggles, etc.

What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?

Back in the days, when one of our other bands was performing live in a small bar in Crete, the audience went nuts, moshing like maniacs. So the owner started getting concerned about the bar’s safety and he killed the power switch forcing us to step out of the stage. That thing was wild!

Currently we are a two-piece band so technically we cannot perform live. However we hope that this will change in the future.

What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?

We play mainly Jackson Guitars and basses. The drums are fully programmed due to the lack of drummer.

What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?

We are promoting the re-release of our debut EP Hordes Arising via Vicious Witch Records in a special digipack format with 2 bonus tracks, which came out on September 13th.

What are your plans for the next 6 months or so?

We are planning some special releases very soon. Also we are currently working on our debut album , and one of our main plans is to find trustworthy and skilful members so we will have the ability to perform live.

If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!

We’d love to support the mighty Midnight in a tour with the speed metal machine Deathhammer and the upcoming black/thrash force of Hellripper. That would be a blast!
