After premiering their latest video, it made sense to get the guys in Trident Waters to tackle our Band of the Day questions…
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We’re based in London, Wilson is from Brazil though.
How did you meet?
Mostly through the internet and word of mouth. We kinda gravitated to the same state of being.
How long have you been playing as a band?
Around 4 years but that’s working through lineups until we settled as the band we are now.
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
Blues Rock Trio equates to Trident Waters. It also symbolises hidden depths.
What are your influences?
All things blues, rock and life in general. I actually get quite inspired by the thought of retirement from real work.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We have a certain kinda electric to our live show. It’s an energy that has to be seen/heard to be understood. I think a lot of bands in the modern era are a bit sound with their sound.
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
Life, death, love, war, good times and sunshine. Anything really it depends on my mood and what’s going on around me. The subject matter varies greatly from politics to breakups.
What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
High energy, powerful, genuine. We’ve played a good 100 shows now.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Probably getting thrown out by security on an occasion I can’t even remember!
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
Mostly Gibsons and Fenders. I’m primarily using a Les Paul Traditional through a Marshall now.
I do have lots of guitars and it’s hard to maintain them all.
Wilson is using Fender Bass and Mark Bass amp.
What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?
Our new single “Eva Lane” has just been released. That’s available everywhere and our new E.P will be released in June. It’s exciting times right now for the band.
What are your plans for 2019?
We’ll be releasing the EP in June and will be touring the UK off the back of that. We would like to make it across to Europe at some point this year too.
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
It would be great to open for Rival Sons and I guess we could add Dust Coda to that bill too.
