Another trip back across the pond today for your daily dose of new bands.
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We’re from a small town called Owego, New York!
How did you meet?
Well our bassist Emory Davies and vocalist/guitarist Andre Judge went to school together since second grade, so they’ve know each other for a while. We met James E. Pilipovic through local shows and a couple friends. Then after a couple of jam sessions Life Underfoot was born.
How long have you been playing as a band?
We’ve been a band for two years now. We started in early January of 2017.
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
Well the band name comes from a series of posters that was in Andre’s tenth grade bio room. “I just would sit there not listening, thinking man that would be a rad band name.” Fast forward nine years and look where we are. So moral of the story, never quit!
What are your influences?
Brand New, Mineral, Nirvana, American Football, Hum, Title Fight, Weezer and Blink-182.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We just make music we like to play and listen to. We don’t really try to be unique, it just kinda comes out. Andre listens to a lot of modern pop punk and early emo. Emory listens to a lot of grunge and undergound alternative. James is really into progressive metal. So all our influeces together make it how it is. Remember to always take in everyone’s ideas.
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
No, not really. Either Emory or Andre writes the lyrics.
What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
Oh, we always have fun at our shows. We’re not a super high energy band but still fun. That’s all that matters right? That the crowd and us are all having fun. We’ve played over a dozen or so shows. Four of which were our tour we did back in July. Really cannot wait to get back on the road.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
That would have to be when Andre broke his guitar at our show with our friends in Promises Unsaid. That was pretty cool.
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
We use Sonar Drums and Sabian Cymbals, and Epiphone Guitars. Love Epiphone a lot. Probably won’t change!
What are your plans for 2019?
Just to put out more music and play more shows. We plan to have our next EP out soon, and have a tour that follows it. Hopefully to play in new states as well.
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
We’d have to say Neck Deep, and our friends in Brighter Days. Love both those bands, check out Brighter Days as well. I believe their new EP comes out soon!
