Leeds has to have something going for it, but as an ex-resident of Bradford I’m obliged to struggle to spot it. Making it more difficult for me to dislike the place, though, are things like Furr – talented young acts that the city seems to spawn despite being otherwise bland, bleak and boring. Please address all hatemail to where we can print it out and use it to line hamster cages.
Furr, judging by the intro to their latest single “Padlocks”, could rename themselves Fuzz. The warm, over-distorted sound leaking out of your speakers as you listen to the opening few seconds is reminiscent of days gone by, of the amps going on just before the band hit the stage. “Padlocks” follows on from the band’s recent video for “Think Sharp Kid”, a track which received a fair bit of major media exposure. Not a bad thing for a young band to get!
