Made up of members of several other acts from the Bay Area (All Shall Perish, Antagony, Hacksaw to the Throat, Feast), Oblivion class themselves as “modern extreme metal”. They’ve been together as a band since 2007, releasing their debut albumĀ Called To Rise in January 2013.
The first pressing sold out and a re-release made available in October through Unique Leader. They were also the top metal band on bandcamp for 12 weeks, which can’t be a mean feat.
With a great mixture of gentle near-acoustic segments and heavy, fast, pounding extreme sequences there’s some great music available from Oblivion. I’ve had a listen to a few tracks and I can see why they’ve been so popular. Their album – as a digipack – is only $10 for 14 tracks, which is a bargain.
