Another delayed post due to a huge backlog. I genuinely wish I could post something about everything I receive but there are only so many hours in the day!
Voice of Ruin are a band, so legend tells, consisting of five Swiss farmers. Tired of practicing the art animal husbandry on their own livestock (as in, being said animals’ husbands) they decided to start singing about it instead. Which is slightly more legal, certainly here in the UK.
An EP release in the early years, a debut album came out in 2011. This, apparently, raked them in a vast fortune, most of which they pissed away on booze and women (they wasted the rest…) which meant they were back at the drawing board and in need of another platter to raise whore funds.
So here we are in 2014 with their second album, Morning Wood, just released at the start of May. Their brand of “horny farmer metal” is certainly heavy, and I’d say is closer to death than any other genre. It’s fast, brutal and – going by the song titles – somewhat dubious morally.
Either way, it’s worth checking out for free on their bandcamp page, and buying if you’re really into it.
Incidentally, I just spotted that they’re from the rather pretty Swiss town of Nyon. And just to annoy my wife I’d like to say: “been there”.
