New Band of the Day: Def-Con-One

Well, the Toon are riding high in the Premier League at the moment so why not celebrate with a band from Newcastle? Def-Con-One have been going since 1998, so they’re no new entrants to the leagues of metal.

In their time together, they’ve generated a lot of positive praise and a horde of fans. They’ve released an EP and an album (in 2012) with a second full album due out through Scarlet Records in February 2014.

Their style is just nicely generic “metal” with influences from the heavier end of the field – Slayer, Machine Head, Pantera et al. With a variety of their tracks kicking around on Reverbnation and YouTube, there’s plenty to get your teeth into.

Expect to catch them at the likes of Bloodstock where they’ve played before to rave reviews. They’ve a pretty comprehensive web site, so do give it a good going through to find out more about them and see where they’re playing live in the new year.
