Sensational UK solo artist, Princess Alice Manor, will release her eagerly anticipated new EP, Outer Demons, on Friday 18th August. Prior to the EP, Alice has released the stunning single, Alive, out now via streaming platforms. Watch the music video below. My Chemical Romance – The Black Parade
This probably isn’t a big surprise to anyone! I think a lot of us were influenced by The Black Parade as it led the huge revolution of Emo culture that influenced us all to this day! Like others it was my introduction into the alternative scene and I wouldn’t be here without it!
Placebo – Nancy Boy
Again, this was another track that shaped me into the person I am today. Brian Molko’s stance on androgyny and sexuality broke me out of my shell. Tracks like “Nancy Boy”, “Pure Morning” and also their later albums Sleeping With Ghosts, Meds and Battle for The Sun introduced me to the electronic rock side of things as well that I instantly fell in love with.
WE BUTTER THE BREAD WITH BUTTER – Ich Mach Was Mit Medien
Going off the beaten path WBTBWB’s Ich Mach Was Mit Medien was a game changer for me. I was stuck in a rut of making “Industrial Metal” but couldn’t figure out why people weren’t dancing or moshing like others. Then I came across this track randomly on Spotify and it opened my eyes. I finally realised that there was a genre that combined EDM with metalcore and realised this was what I was missing! It opened me up to other bands like Crossfaith, Electric Callboy and the rest is history!

Dir En Grey – Obscure
Not for the faint of heart. This was actually recommended to me by my sister when I was 16 and she was going through her own phase of Asian influences. I remember her showing me the video and something instantly hooked me into horror, the macabre world, more detailed subjects as well as international bands. It became my own personal gateway into everything Asian and I absolutely loved what I saw and never came out of the hole since. Bring Me The Horizon – Doomed
This is more a personal track for me. As someone who suffers from mental health issues whenever I’m feeling at my lowest I always listen to this track. I always find comfort in the mix of electronics, orchestra and Ollie Syke’s raw emotional lyrics and it somehow makes me feel like I’m not alone. I one day wish to write something as brilliant as this.
