Promethium, the well-known hard rock and heavy metal outfit, present their latest musical endeavor, Bleeding The Ghost. This ten-track album stays true to the band’s established sound, combining the raw power of hard rock with the weighty elements of heavy metal.
Having featured Promethium in our coverage multiple times before, Bleeding The Ghost arrives as a familiar addition to their discography. What has changed, noticeably, is the quality of the production. The earlier releases (Revisions not so much due to its acoustic nature) lacked a little something. They were a bit airy, not quite meaty enough, a little mushy, the mix just not quite spot on. This isn’t uncommon in self-released albums, and I mean no disrespect in the slightest to the many acts we feature who self-produce, or who are on a limited budget. However, Bleeding The Ghost has nailed it. Even before you take the songs into account it just sounds better.
The album kicks off with a short instrumental intro, “Goat”, setting the stage for what follows. And what follows are nine heavy rocking numbers. The added weight of the sound makes the drums and bass pound and thrum, and a great example of this is the intro to “Healing Your Sin” which will have your speakers vibrating with joy. Actually, I’d say that the track as a whole is a highlight from the album.

The title track, which has been released as a single and which you can check out below, isn’t bad at all either. “Manhattan” also, is a great number. It features a clean intro that just screams “Iron Maiden”, but if you’re going to have influences, then why not go with the good ones? Those tones contrast massively with the more Megadeth-like chops within closing song “My Fate”.
In essence, Bleeding The Ghost is a solid offering. The music, consistent with the band’s signature style, delivers the expected energy and intensity, and further benefited by the improved production. If you’re a fan of the band’s previous work, Bleeding The Ghost is worth a listen. It may not reach the heights of being extraordinary, but it certainly maintains the band’s standard of quality. While not groundbreaking (and let’s be honest that’s nigh on impossible these days), it is a testament to Promethium’s ability to deliver a consistent, solid performance.
