Welsh rock band Feeder are due to release their eleventh studio album Torpedo on 18 March. They were one of my favourite bands when I was at school twenty-or-so years ago, so I was very pleased to be invited to review their latest album.
Like so many bands, the pandemic provided Feeder with more time than they might have had in “normal” years to focus on creating music and, to me, they have rediscovered the essence of their sound, as well as experimenting with some new elements and textures.

Torpedo has the trademark Feeder sound and successfully combines the gritty, distorted, heavier sound of their early years with bright, soaring, anthemic choruses. Thematically the feelings of frustration and isolation that we all experienced during the pandemic are evident, but there is also a lot of hope and positivity running through the album.
All of the tracks work well together, and I think Torpedo will be well received by older and newer fans alike as it is a really strong album with themes that everyone can relate to.
Later this month Feeder will be performing two special shows at small venues in Wales as part of The National Lottery and Music Venue Trust’s Revive Live Tour (which aims to highlight the importance of Grassroots Music Venues across the UK) as well as playing five special stripped-back, acoustic album launch shows to celebrate the release of the new album. They will then embark on a tour of the UK in April and May.
