Fresh off the back of their well-received January offering, “Slow Down”, comes the next taste of new-look Mother Vulture. “Treadmill” is a marriage of Mother Vulture’s more classic brand of frantic and chaotic speed-rock with the darker themes and sonic palette of the their newer material. This tune is relentless both in its musicality and its lyrical content with a DIY music video featuring the eponymous gym equipment.

“Treadmill” is almost comically quick, and drummer Matt West had this to say:
It’s right at the limit of my physical ability. We were writing it in the practice room, and it felt great but when we went to the studio to track the final version it suddenly felt super quick. I asked for the bpm to be taken back 5, but it still felt way too fast. But we just persevered and we got the take. I found out later that Brodie (guitar) had asked the engineer to put it up by 10. It ended up something like 30 bpm quicker than the demo!
“Treadmill” is being self-released which continues the DIY spirit of their previous material and grassroots ethos, and is the second single off their upcoming album Cartoon Violence, newly announced for release on 15th January 2026.
Mother Vulture have an special album release party planned at the 450-cap Phoenix in Exeter on 31st January to celebrate the arrival Cartoon Violence. Tickets on sale on Monday 14th July.
