The upcoming Merciless tour marks a highly anticipated return to live performances after the pandemic-induced hiatus and is a celebration of Body Count’s resilience and continued relevance in the metal genre. The band’s journey was heavily influenced by the pandemic, which halted their plans to tour and perform their previous album Carnivore, which was particularly notable for winning a Grammy in the Best Metal Performance category for its track ‘Bum-Rush’. Ice-T has expressed that the inability to perform and fully promote Carnivore was a significant disappointment, as the essence of making albums is to perform them live.

Despite this setback, the band’s determination led them to focus on creating their next album. The band is currently completing their eighth studio album, titled Merciless, which is expected to be released this year via Century Media Records.
