Empyre to release live album in May ’24

Empyre will release their first live album on Friday 17th May. Pre-orders are open now, exclusively from www.empyre.co.uk.

Channelling the essence of the legendary MTV Unplugged series, Live & Unplugged captures the emotion, energy and boldness of Empyre’s music in its purest form. Guitars take centre stage, vocals soar, and the stripped-back arrangements allow the power of the songwriting to shine through.

Live & Unplugged is 11 sublimely performed and produced tracks capturing the enveloping atmosphere from their acoustic shows recorded at Kettering Arts Centre (St. Andrew’s Church). The same venue (currently undergoing refurbishment) will play host to a celebratory acoustic gig by the band on Saturday 12th October. Tickets for that event are on sale as part of the album pre-order.

Bucking a trend, in a somewhat unique move, Live & Unplugged will be available exclusively on CD. This decision reflects the band’s desire to create a tangible experience for music lovers.

Featuring live versions of all the songs from their 2021 release The Other Side this album has the added bonus of additional material from their latest LP Relentless and an extra track from Self Aware. The CD runs like a gig and includes stage banter, with the band talking about the songs, their history and indulging in some crowd interaction, much of it delivered with their customary dose of tongue-in-cheek self deprecating humour.

Henrik Steenholdt (lead singer) comments:

This is Empyre at our most exposed. There’s no distortion to hide behind. From that perspective it’s raw and revealing, but performing like this is so rewarding and we hope we’ve captured something that everyone who enjoys our live shows will really embrace.
