Continuing our run of letting you know a little more about as many of the bands on at Bloodstock 2025 as we possibly can before you get a chance to see them, we have Fight The Champ. This bunch play on the New Blood Stage on the Saturday. Their bassist, Kurt, took on the “answering annoying journalist’s questions” role…
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
As a band we are based in Torquay down in south Devon except for our drummer who lives near Exeter.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
We first got together in a rehearsal space in about February of last year, something immediately clicked and we have been going strong ever since.
Where does the name of the band come from?
We are all big fans of professional wrestling, which also shows in some of our lyrics, and so we came up with something that reflects that and also hasn’t been used yet.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
Our music is kind of a blend between hardcore and nu metal, this has become quite useful as we have been able to fit in on hardcore shows and on metal shows quite comfortably
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
Our aim with every show is to bring as much unfiltered raw energy as possible which we also strive to receive back from the audience and then some. If you should choose to come see our show, expect something truly chaotic and reckless, this is not for the faint of heart.

Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?
I have not been to Bloodstock before, personally, but it has always been on my radar and I have heard some amazing things about it so I am definitely excited to attend for the first time.
Which M2tM region did you win, or did you come through other channels?
We won the Devon & Cornwall tournament at Livewire in Saltash which is a fantastic venue and youth club that gives the youth of tomorrow a safe space and a fighting chance to reach the same heights as their musical idols. We came second in our first heat and, to be honest with you, we were not expecting to win the second place playoffs, let alone the final!
Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Bloodstock?
It’s kind of hard because I still haven’t processed it yet.
What sort of setlist can we expect?
A full on assault on your senses that gets progressively heavier and angrier as the set goes on.
Stage times haven’t been announced yet, so which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
I would be absolutely gutted to miss Kublai Khan, haven’t seen them live before and they have been on my list for a long long time.
What are you working on at the moment?
We have our first single coming out on all major platforms on the 2nd of August along with a hometown headline show in support of this release at the Attic in Torquay.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Seen a few bloody noses and some broken bones but the wildest thing is always when our vocalist jumps in the pit during our set and absolutely wipes out anyone standing in his way.
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
I personally don’t drink alcohol but I will down a Mango Loco Monster before most shows we play, need to keep that energy up on stage.
