#RoadToBOA2019 – 3 Headed Snake

It’s that time of year again, when in the run-up to Bloodstock we endeavour to interview every band gracing the Sophie Lancaster, New Blood and Jägermeister stages from 8th – 11th August 2019. This means you’ve got a chance to read up on all your favourite bands set to play over the weekend and decide which new ones you’ll want to check out.

As ever, we’re predicting some horrible clashes because, true to form, there are some great bands across all three stages so you should start planning who you want to see.

Our thanks to all the bands for taking the time out to answer our questions!

3 Headed Snake – SOPHIE Stage, Saturday

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

We are from the US. Primarily based in Los Angeles, California.

How long have you been playing together as a band?

The initial project started a few years ago when I wrote a few songs and decided to look for a singer to fit this style of music. My schedule is fairly busy with Ministry so we had to find time in between tours and albums to squeeze this project in. Bloodstock will be our debut performance.

Where does the name of the band come from?

Interestingly enough it came from a review I read several years ago about one of our Ministry shows. The journalist described looking up at the stage and seeing myself [Sin Quirin], Al Jourgensen, and Mike Scaccia (RIP) at the edge of the stage looking like a 3 Headed Snake. And for some reason that always stuck in my mind and it was the first thing that popped up when I needed a name for this project.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

Well, I find it unique because it has classic metal elements such as some Priest, Maiden type of vibes but it combines it with some real heavy modern type of guitar riffs. We are trying to blend classic metal/power metal with real heavy crunchy guitars yet keeping it very melodic.

What’s your live show like?

This will be our debut show so we will see what our live show will be like, haha!

Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?

Never played it but have only heard great things about it.

How/when did you find out that you’d be playing the SOPHIE stage?

I found out a few months ago from the promoter and we are all beyond flattered and excited to be a part of such an amazing festival and stage.

What sort of setlist can we expect?

We are going to mix it up between fast and slow songs, but they will all be heavy and yet melodic.

Which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?

I don’t think we’ll be clashing with their set time but I’m looking forward to seeing Anthrax.

What are you working on at the moment?

Currently working on new 3 Headed Snake material. We hope to get into the studio to record our full-length album soon.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

Hmm…haha, I’ll keep it short and sweet. I once saw a person in the crowd remove their prosthetic leg and passed it up to the stage for us to sign.

What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?

I’m a wildman. I usually have some water or if I’m really feeling crazy I’ll have a sip of Coca Cola.
