Nexus Opera have been around for a little while, and today we find out a bit about the band from the newest member!
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
Natively we come from various cities of Italy. Actually we all live in Rome.
How did you meet?
Marco and Alessandro have always been friends. And from their friendship Nexus Opera was born. After about a year (with an ad on the web) they met Gianfrancesco. Later they got to know Sandro and later Davide. Due to a lineup change, finally I (Natale) arrived.
How long have you been playing as a band?
I have been with Nexus Opera for almost 6 years. Before Nexus I had many bands.
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
Nexus Opera was chosen because we wanted to express a concept of connection between various genres where, however power metal remains the cornerstone. In our songs there are always small glimpses of genres very close (though some not) to power metal. We tried our best to create a “sonic balance” in order to make them coexist.

What are your influences?
There are many… Stratovarius, Iron Maiden, Ayreon, Within Temptation, Dream Theater… though mainly Iron Maiden.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
In each song we try to convey the emotions (positive and negative) of what we tell. Our two albums are about the First and Second World Wars. Very complicated subjects to deal with. We tell about what happened and in some passages we try to tell them through the eyes of a soldier.
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
Good question! Personally I prefer the drama. But in our albums you can find moments of joy, pain, dreams, hope, and so on.
What’s your live show like?
We are very active with the spectators. We do not create the wall between them and us, rather we ask them to sing with us. We interact very much.
How many shows have you played?
With Nexus Opera I’m at the thirtieth live. And every time it’s always like the first time. The emotions are very strong. The problem? It all ends too soon!
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Headbanging walking along the stage. I will do better in the future!
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
We use many brands. Ibanez and Jackson (for guitars, 6 and 7 strings), Fender and Yamaha for bass, Boss and line 6 for pedalboard.
What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?
We are currently promoting our new album La Guera Granda released in April of this year.

What are your plans for the next 6 months or so?
We have planned to organise various shows as well as plan a live tour.
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
Another good question!
We would like to open for Sabaton, Powerwolf… We dare not think further! I think we would love to have the support (and support) of The Last Sound Revelation, Ivory Moon, Flashback on Anger, Gigantomachia and all Metal Fury Bands.
