Band of the Day: Fight the Fight

I gather today is humpday. Given the late hour, you’re well over the hump and in need of rock n’ roll. Well, you won’t believe your luck…

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

We are from the cold North, more specific Oslo, Norway.

How did you meet?

We are childhood friends and met during school. We weren’t all friends at time, but we for sure knew about each other. It wasn’t until some years later we realised we all like the same kind of music and should start a band.

How long have you been playing as a band?

We been playing together for 10-12 years now, or at least myself, Lars Vegas and HM. We started out and played for many years under a different band name, Oslo Faenskap.

Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?

Funny thing… I was working one day (as a roofer) and I was climbing the scaffolding when I came up with the intro and lyrics for our self-titled track Fight The Fight. When we recorded our debut album and wanted to have a fresh start we decided to change our band name and we thought that was cool.

What are your influences?

Oh such a difficult question… We are influenced by great music and artists, doesn’t really matter what kind of genre. I get inspired by inspiring people.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

Well I like to think that we are a rock n’ roll band that are playing heavy riffs with catchy hooks. We often hear that it is hard to compare us to other bands. I guess that is unique.

Do you have any particular lyrical themes?

Not really, we write lyrics about what kind of mood we are in.

What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?

We are very energetic, we often hear. We like to engage with the audience. We must have played around a couple hundred shows now!

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

To be honest I don’t really remember so much about what happens during the shows. I’m so focused and full of adrenaline so everything goes by so rapidly. I do remember one time at Summer Breeze festival our singer Lars Vegas was going to stage dive. He ended up landing on the front barrier. Funny sight.

What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?

I play on Gibson Les Paul´s. I like classic stuff.

What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?

At the moment we are promoting our second studio album, Deliverance, which will be released 18th September!

What are your plans for the rest of 2020?

What to do in 2020? We had shit loads of touring plans but as you know that won’t happen. We are probably going to record our third album this fall/winter tho!

If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
