Band of the Day: The Golden Leaves

Norway calling! Here’s today’s Band of the Day, all the way from… well, I’ll let them tell you…

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

Trondheim, Norway.

How did you meet?

David wanted to become a rock star, so he gathered the best musicians he knew.

How long have you been playing as a band?

3 years.

Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?

Javier’s head!

What are your influences?

Rock bands such as Led Zeppelin, Royal Blood, Arctic Monkeys etc.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

It’s plain rock music. We only make hits.

Do you have any particular lyrical themes?

No.

What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?

Our live shows are high-energy performances with the right amount of passion for each song. People tend to get quite drunk. Somewhere between 10 and 20.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

It might be at Hillbilly Huckfest when the front crowd started stunting on a giant beanbag. Torleiv responded by pulling off a huge chunk of his hair. I guess that’s wild enough.

What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?

Javier mainly plays a Gibson Les Paul, and Torleiv plays a Michael Kelly Vibe.

What are your plans for 2019?

Get our new drummer fit for fight, our old one decided to study medicine in Poland. Then play some shows for you guys!

If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!

We haven’t played with Frances Wave yet, they are good guys so that’s one. Cleopatrick seems to be a messed up duo, we like that. If you’re interested in bands you’ve never heard of before check out our playlist Secret Gems on Spotify.
