Band of the Day: Bang Bang Firecracker

As the year end approaches, we’re still cramming these Bands of the Day in there! Almost our last one of the year…

Simple things first – where are you from?

Stoke On Trent, Staffs, UK.

How long have you been playing as a band?

The band is newly formed & still recruiting – the debut CD was recorded approximately 12 months ago.

Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?

A Pound Bakery Sandwich! I was out with Shaun Lowe, the guy who recorded and produced the album – the working name for the project was originally “Toxic Obsession” – I saw the sandwich and thrust it at Shaun! The name stuck from that moment.

What are your influences?

Everything from AC/DC, WASP, GnR through to Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus & Lamb of God!

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

Bang Bang Firecracker is a melting pot of both classic hard rock and modern rock/metal. This blend of styles coupled with really cool solos and pitched vocals sets us apart from the norm!

Do you have any particular lyrical themes?

World issues, relationships, BDSM and strippers!

What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?

The live game will be intense – we are yet to debut the band but aim to be playing live shows by the summer of 2019!

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

N/A for this band! An old singer of mine fell off the front of a very high stage once, another got his hair caught in a lighting rig whilst windmill headbanging! I’ve ripped the inner seam of my jeans whilst playing and spent the gig carefully positioning my guitar so as not to flash my jewells! My old bassist got tangled in a stage curtain and once I ripped my knuckle wide open and played a set whilst bleeding everywhere!

What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?

Stormshadow Custom Guitars, Sheffield UK.

What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?

Our debut album – Welcome to the Slaughterhouse!

What are your plans for 2018?

We are going live in 2019!

If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you?

I’d love to open up for Anthrax! As we are a brand new band, I think it’s unfair to choose an opener until we’ve proven ourselves!

A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!

Go see my mate Steve Jackson’s band – Heartbreak Remedy. Or check out fellow Stoke metallers BallsDeep who are ripping up the scene across the UK atm!
