A short and sweet one for the hard rockers among us.
Simple things first – where are you from?
We are from Barcelona, Spain
How did you meet?
We are friends since childhood and although we have played in different bands separately, for this project we decided to come together and combine music and friendship in a nucleus.
How long have you been playing as a band?
As a band, we only have been there for one year, but on our backs we have been playing on stages with other bands for more than 30 years.
Before you get tired of being asked … where does the name of the band come from?
JJ Friends, it’s like Jose Jarque and Amigos, the project was born when I thought about joining the old friends that I had inside rock and started as a private project to record only one album, but we started to sound so good that we decided to take the band seriously.
What are your influences?
Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Deep Purple, Gyant, Mr. Big, Richie Kotzen, Lynyrd Skynird, Kiss etc…
Describe your music What makes it unique?
Pure hard rock, with modern influences (Pop Evil, Black Stone Cherry, The Winery Dogs).
Do you have a particular lyrical theme?
All our words indicate our mood at that moment, there are funny and nostalgic lyrics, that’s how we are.
How is your live show? How many shows have you played?
Our presentation as a band in an emblematic hall in Barcelona (Razzmatazz) was apotheosis, we were called Hard Rock Party, since we went out alone to have fun and the public was infected and it was a real bestial party. How many shows do we have? As musicians hundreds, we have been in music for more than 30 years, as JJ Friends band, we are at the beginning and we have just 5 shows.
What is the wildest thing you have seen or done in a live show?
Have fun, have fun and have fun.
What kit do you use / guitars play / etc.?
Drums, 2 guitars, bass and voice, simple but forceful.
What are your plans for 2018?
To play, to do shows and for 2019 to begin to record our second album.
If you were the second in a three-band bill, which band would you like to be supporting?
We support all of them because we consider ourselves inside the music, but we would really like to be together with The Dead Daisies, Richie Kotzen, Black Stone Cherry, Inglorious, etc.
And what band would you choose to open for you? An opportunity to connect someone you’ve been touring with, or the band of a partner that we have not heard before!
We would like to be with our friends the Big Bang band, good people, and great musicians.
