OK, let’s get the bullet points out of the way first:
- symphonic metal
- female -fronted
- from Quebec
Merkabah were formed in 2002 and have released two albums to date, both self-financed. Shadows Never Forget in 2005 was followed by The Realm of All Secrets in 2007. It’s taken a while, but they recently signed to Canada’s Maple Metal Records who will be releasing the band’s third album, Ubiquity, on April 4th this year.
As with many of the newly-signed acts I get to cover, they’ve opened for some well known names over the years. In Merkabah’s case, they include Lacuna Coil, HammerFall and Gamma Ray. I’m most jealous of HammerFall as I’ve still not seen them live myself!
The first single from the album, “Red Letter Days” can be enjoyed below. The video’s a simple one, but pretty cool. It takes you through a quick history of the band with photos and video snippets of them recording from 2002 right up to date. Nice idea.
