This Month: Glasgow Rape Crisis Centre Charity Gig

Rapecrisis fundraiser flyerA charity gig in support of Glasgow Rape Crisis Centre has just been announced, with some line up!

If you’re in town and you’ve got even a passing interest in pop punk, you definitely won’t want to sleep on this!

Two sets of original tunes are coming from Stonethrower and their ‘tasty Dundee ecossemo’ and ‘local summer pop punk favourites’ Bad Luck.

But what’s got us childishly excited for this show are the two cover sets. Members of Veto and Flakes have teamed up to play tribute to Paramore, while what can only be described as a supergroup of Scottish pop punk, cobbled together from Walking Targets, Murderburgers, and Lemonaids, will be belting through a Dear Landlord set.

We caught up with event organiser and Rape Crisis volunteer Sam, and this is what she had to say about the show and the amazing organisation which it will support:

“The Glasgow Rape Crisis Centre is a vital service that is, unfortunately, close to a lot of our hearts.

They do amazing work supporting survivors 13 and over who have been raped, sexually assaulted or sexually abused at some point in their lifetime.

Since I started my volunteer support worker training at the centre I’ve seen first hand how important the service is and how much they do with limited funds.

I’ve always loved the feeling of community and progressive attitude in the music scene in Glasgow and thought what a great way to bring it all together. No One Knows Records have been amazing letting me bring my bucket to shows and we thought why not do a whole gig instead.”

The Glasgow Rape Crisis Centre Charity Gig will take place on Saturday 30th July at Glasgow’s Nice N Sleazy. Tickets will be available OTD for a donation to Glasgow Rape Crisis Centre.
