Gig Review: Inglorious / Marisa And The Moths – KK’s Steel Mill, Wolverhampton (7th June 2025)

KK’s Steelmill is synonymous with attracting the finest rock bands on the planet so, it is only right the Incredible Inglorious get to take to the stage tonight, but first, a Moshville favourite is here to support…

I saw Marisa and the Moths here less than a month ago on their own tour and I honestly could not praise them enough. Tonight they step onto the main stage to an unusually (For the support band) full room, clearly a lot of fans for these guys here tonight.

Fronted by the versatile Marisa Rodriquez, they kick of with a blistering rendition of “Needy” before Tracks from their self titled album and their latest (and excellent) album “What doesn’t kill you” including a personal favourite “Who are you waiting for”

I am still undecided where they sit (grunge, punk or something else), but it doesn’t matter really. All that matters is they are great live and already have a couple of great albums behind them. For me they wouldn’t be out of place sharing a stage with the likes of Evanescence or Halestorm, and to be honest, I can’t see any reason that that couldn’t happen.

I have said it before but these guys really are one of the hardest working bands out there at the minute who seem to be gathering a good fan base. You can be sure to catch them at a festival or show near you soon, and I strongly recommend you check them out, you won’t be disappointed!

I first saw Inglorious about 4 years ago at the Asylum in Birmingham. I remember thinking at the time “wow, why have I not heard of this band before?!” so, when they announced they were calling it a day, it was a bit of a disappointment but… They are back stronger and better than ever.

The incredible voice of Nathan James still fronts the band and he is now joined by original member Colin Parkinson and new members Richard Shaw and Henry Rogers.

I like to see a band enjoying themselves on stage and not just going through the motions, and enjoying themselves they were as they opened very loudly with “Testify” and the powerful “Breakaway”

There was a good spread of tracks from across all of their albums, which I thought was a nice touch, but all of Inglorious’ albums have one thing in common… the unmistakable powerful vocals of Nathan. He simply has an incredible voice.

A few years ago I was lucky enough to see Nathan lend his vocals to Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds on a night where, for me, he stole the show. To be honest I think he would steal the show in most bands out there, he is such a talent.

That said, here tonight, he doesn’t overshadow the rest of the band, instead they just blend so well and it just looks and feels right with the clear abundance of talent on stage, more importantly, the fans are getting their money’s worth with these guys.

I am not taking anything away from the previous line ups of Inglorious, they have all been good in their own way, but something just seems different now, something that I think could see Inglorious reach new heights. There is clearly a lot of talent on display but more than that, it all looks so natural and effortless, dare I say, more enjoyable for both the guys and those of us here witnessing the show. The interaction and smiles between them says it all really.

I think it is also worth mentioning Nathan’s self publicised personal journey. He has clearly worked hard and I salute him for it, a true inspiration.

A highlight tonight came in the form of an acoustic rendition of “Bleed For You” and “Glory Days” performed by Nathan and Colin to a silent tentative audience before Henry and Richard rejoin them on stage for a gritty”Making Me Pay”

In summary, Inglorious are better and stronger than ever but they are still the Inglorious we all love. Personally I hope this incarnation of the band keeps going as I am looking forward to seeing what is next in store for them, in the meantime check out their new album V. It is a fantastic album, the track “Power of Truth” is epic!
