Continuing our run of letting you know a little more about as many of the bands on at Bloodstock 2025 as we possibly can before you get a chance to see them, we have Prodigal. This bunch play on the New Blood Stage on the Saturday.
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We’re all from all over, Louis (Bassist) is from Birmingham but the rest of us are from Stroud / Gloucester
How long have you been playing together as a band?
The band originally started during Covid with Stan (vocals) & George (guitar / vocals), Johnny (drummer) joined sometime after that as they started just jamming together then Louis (bassist) joined in 2023.
Where does the name of the band come from?
Stan (vocals) – “George and I were brainstorming words trying to find a band name when they first started making music together and Prodigal was one of them and it just stuck. It just so happens the definition “spending money or using resources freely and recklessly; wastefully extravagant” fits more than we could have possibly anticipated as so much of the ethos of our band lies in challenging mainstream narratives, calling out injustice, and trying to use our art to amplify the voices and issues that get buried. So Prodigal isn’t just a name, it’s a statement about the reckless state the world is in and why we refuse to stay quiet about it.”
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
Louis (bassist) – “for me personally, I find our sound to be a good mix of our influences but different enough that we’re not a copycat, we’re loud, emotional, melodic as well as many other things”
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
Our shows are usually pretty chaotic. Stan (vocals) has a real connection to the audience and it’s honestly very special to witness at every show
Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?
Nope, we’re bloodstock virgins and we’re hella excited!

Which M2tM region did you win, or did you come through other channels?
Cheltenham (big up)
Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Bloodstock?
Disbelief, overwhelmed, excited, nervous and thankful. Basically every happy emotion…
What sort of setlist can we expect?
The set will have some heavy hitters as well as some melodic anthems
Stage times haven’t been announced yet, so which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
Louis (bassist) – “There’s a lot of bands I’m really craving to see on the Saturday. Kublai khan tx, Heriot, Fear Factory and of course… Machine Fucking Head!!!
What are you working on at the moment?
We have a lot in the works at this current moment. We have just released a single (11/07/25) and we’ve just finished the tracking stage of another. Studio is booked for another single and we are hoping to start working on a 4/5 track EP very soon. By the time we play bloodstock, 2 of these will have been out, and the next out in a couple weeks! (keep an eye or ear out)
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Our last show (M2TM final) was just a wild experience. The crowd was just non stop moshing since the moment we started all the way until the end, and it was such a hot day and everyone was sweaty and I someone get on somebody’s shoulders and then went into the pit, he looked like he was riding one of those mechanical bulls.
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
Our bassist Louis will always get a draft larger of some sorts, but the rest of us need that energy drink before we go on for sure!
