Continuing our run of letting you know a little more about as many of the bands on at Bloodstock 2025 as we possibly can before you get a chance to see them, we have Helldown. This bunch play on the EMP Stage on the Friday.
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We’re from Swansea, South Wales.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
We’ve been playing for roughly over 10 years.
Where does the name of the band come from?
The band name came from Ben and Ross mishearing each other when discussing some lyrics. We went through a lot and of names to begin with, but nothing felt right, and then Helldown seemed to stick. Luckily, it’s a good name when the crowd chant it!
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
It’s difficult to put a pin on us now – we’ve been told we have elements of Lamb of God, Machine Head, Slayer and more all mixed in, so we can’t complain about that!
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
Our live shows are very energetic, we like to get the crowd moving, chanting, and wanting more!

Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?
Matt has been to Bloodstock a good few times now and absolutely loves it.
When/how did you find out you’d been selected to play at Bloodstock?
We applied to play there and luckily, we got accepted. We were told some months ago but had to keep it to ourselves which was difficult because we really wanted to announce it.
What sort of setlist can we expect?
You can expect a powerful and aggressive setlist.
Stage times haven’t been announced yet, so which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
Matt – there’s a lot of bands on the bill I want to see so I’m hoping we don’t clash with many!
What are you working on at the moment?
We’re working on new material and aiming to be making our first album.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Our shows can get very aggressive, mosh pits, circle pits, wall of deaths and crowd surfers, we love it all!
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
Matt – for me it’s the rum! Gets the blood warmed up!
