Matt Grocott & The Shrives reveal video for new single “Turn Me On”

[avatar user=”Ross” size=”50″ align=”left” /]Taking their influences from the likes of The Clash, Arctic Monkeys and Jamie T, UK punk rock upstarts Matt Grocott & The Shrives have revealed the video for their exciting new single “Turn Me On”, which can be seen here. True to their snotty teenage fashion, the video sees the boys performing to camera, displaying their angst-ridden attitude and sarcastically celebrating everything that’s wrong with the world.

After being tipped off by his son Joey, Green Day frontman Billie-Joe Armstrong invited the band over to his Jingletown Studios in Oakland, California, to lay down their debut album Back In The Morrow. The 10-track album features Joey on drums, was produced by Billie Joe and recorded by Grammy Award-winning engineer Chris Dugan (U2, Green Day, Iggy Pop). The Green Day frontman even lent a hand, playing bass.

On playing drums for the album, Joey Armstrong, explains:

Working on this project was super rad for me. I’m a musician who wants to be in the studio and I got lucky with Matt and Josh [both of Matt Grocott And The Shrives] who both write killer songs. I learned the songs in the studio right before we recorded and it felt natural. These songs have influences from older bands and I listened to a lot of Elvis Costello’s drummer Pete Thomas to get a vibe for what I wanted to do. I’m really excited with how they turned out and can’t wait for people to hear them.

Earlier this year, the band were featured as one of ‘The World’s Hottest New Bands’ in Kerrang!, releasing their debut music video for “When Did You Get Home” also rave reviews from the likes of the NME, Kerrang! and Rock Sound. The band have been paying their dues on the road for the last year, playing iconic venues such as London’s 100 Club and Glasgow’s King Tuts Wah Wah Hut. They’re set to return to the capital on December 16th with a show at Camden’s Proud Galleries.
