How do we keep up with all the great new tunes and visuals? We don’t. There are too many. Here’s half a dozen from the massive pile anyway…
Whitechapel
To close out 2021, Whitechapel released their eighth studio album, Kin, via Metal Blade Records – which critics are hailing as the band’s “most diverse offering yet” (Metal Injection). Today, the deathcore crew unleashes “Anticure”, the fourth video from Kin. To stream and purchase this acclaimed new record, head to www.metalblade.com/whitechapel.
Thornhill
After appeasing the masses with the astounding “Casanova” in October, Thornhill return with their pulsing new single “Arkangel”.
I started writing “Arkangel” after surrounding myself with media from the late nineties and early two-thousands. I found the hit of nostalgia to be incredibly comforting while we were all locked away. I wanted this song to make you feel the way I felt watching these shows and movies from this period, so I treated it almost like a film score. I found the opening credits to the old Sarah Michelle Gellar Buffy series and basically wrote to that opening sequence. The sections of the song move quite rapidly, the root changes three or four times within the first minute which to me is what a band full of teenagers would be doing in their garage. They don’t really know what they’re doing but it feels natural and is such a perfect representation of that era that they are living in.

Vëlla
Portuguese Vëlla have just shared the video for “Tormento”, a fresh version from the long-awaited debut album Coma, released via Raising Legends Records. This version of the song features the Portuguese female vocalist Sienna Sally.
This song was really fun to write and from the beginning we knew we wanted to have a female voice sung in Portuguese. Not only to convey more emotion but also to contrast with Pedro’s voice. Sienna Sally started singing this song live with us and then we invited her to re-record the song with her beautiful voice. She delivered a memorable performance that far exceeded our expectations and we are so grateful to her for that.

Euphemia Rise
“A Rose Shattered” is the brand new video single of Belgian alternative rock project Euphemia Rise, and a second prelude of its upcoming album Born a Cow.
The song came to life when songwriter Wim Lankriet was discussing the 60s Mary Bell murder case with a friend, who found in the mother of Mary Bell many similarities to her own, and shared some painful memories. The song lyrics were based on both stories, and picture a destructive relationship of rivalry between a mother and her daughter, leading to psychological torture, insanity and loose morals. Musically the track is a melancholy powerhouse of a tune, combining catchy melodies with heavy guitars and electronics, and mixing influences from atmospheric metal, gothic rock and space rock.
Euphemia Rise’s upcoming album Born A Cow is due for release on February 18th, 2022 via Epictronic.
The Hate Club
In the world where humanity is one step away from “living in The Matrix“, some choose to distance themselves from the inevitable and some decide to embrace it. The latter fits the aspirations of The Hate Club’s desire to explore the possibilities that a virtual domain can offer to metalheads across the globe.
To lay down the foundation The Hate Club’s choice to use a music video as the presentation of what THC’s METALverse might look like seems to be the most obvious move. There are several technologies capable of bringing the world of VR into every metalheads home, and one of them is Unreal Engine 5.
The music video for THC’s heavy hitter “Sleepwalker” is an amalgamation of his chaotic nature and aggressive sound all wrapped with next gen stunning visuals.
