Video Roundup: Kevlar Bikini / The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara / Serj Tankian / Brunhilde / Summoning The Lich / My Ruin

Sitting here binging season 2 of Outsiders and wondering why everyone in the free world insists on releasing their videos on a Friday. How on earth am I supposed to pick half a dozen? Best get on with it…

Kevlar Bikini

Kevlar Bikini’s new video for the song “Oozing Optimism” is a direct continuation of the story from the previous video “Quench”. From writing and directing, camerawork, lighting, post-production, and even catering, the band continues its DIY practice and do everything themselves.

The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara

The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara continue their efforts to raise awareness for an Earth in crisis with the release of their latest single, “At The Worlds End”. The artists were driven to action after coming across a recent study by IPBES which concluded that, “Human actions threaten more species with global extinction now than ever before”, and that the, “loss of biodiversity is not only an environmental issue, but also a developmental, economic, security, social and moral issue as well”.

Serj Tankian

Serj Tankian’s eagerly-awaited Elasticity EP arrives on March 19 via Alchemy Recordings/BMG. A preview of the five-song release comes via the Vlad Kaptur-directed video for the EP’s title track, Elasticity”. Check out the video below. Serj has a few words about it:

When I conceived possibly doing another record with the guys from System of a Down a few years back, I started working on a set of songs that I arranged in rock format for that purpose. As we weren’t able to see eye to eye on the vision going forward with an SOAD album, I decided to release these songs under my moniker.

Brunhilde

Brunhilde continue on their straightforward path. And they are undeterred – come what may! Every other month the band releases a new and varied single, every other month Brunhilde makes you want more! The latest appetiser is called “Hell Or High Water” and it’s already the fifth advance single from the new Brunhilde album To Cut A Long Story Short, due for release on the 26th of February 2021.

Summoning The Lich

Summoning The Lich have today released the new single, “Cult of the Ophidian”, taken from their recently announced debut album, United In Chaos. Accompanying the single, Summoning The Lich have also shared a suitably macabre music video for the track. Directed by Danny Tilson, the clip alternates between the band adorned in occult robed attire and performing together.

United In Chaos is due out on February 26 and is available to pre-order now.

My Ruin

Taken from their 20th Anniversary album The Cathartic Collection released last December, “Sacrosanctity” is a nostalgic and colorful look back at the band with never before seen live & behind the scenes footage of My Ruin from London to Los Angeles, spanning from the first to the last shows they played together in both cities. TairrieB tells us a little more:

I met Mick Murphy on this day (February 5, 2000) at a party in the Hollywood Hills. While sitting on a purple couch talking about music we felt a connection and I knew in that moment he would one day be my husband but first, he became my guitarist & musical partner in My Ruin. The rest is our rock story.
