We’re really glad to be hosting this premiere from Luna Kiss. Their new single, “Close” focuses on men’s mental health, and sends out a very positive message. They’re using it, and other means, to raise money for Mind UK – a well-known mental health charity. They’ve a £1000 target on JustGiving, so pop over and help them reach it!
We asked the band a little about the topic they’d chosen. Was there a personal reason for this choice?
We had a discussion about men’s mental health. We discovered that in some form we have all suffered with it in one way or another and that as a close group of mate we didn’t talk about it. From that conversation We decided to focus our efforts on creating something that will help contribute to the conversation about men’s mental health, in a bid to help raise awareness but also help our fans feel more comfortable opening up.
And what message are they trying to get across with “Close”?
There’s a stigma around men’s emotions and often we feel our masculine image will be damaged by acknowledging our feels and opening up. 1 in 8 men suffer from some form of mental health problem and suicide is the biggest killer amongst men in the UK. Whilst Luna Kiss are a very small ripple in a very big ocean, if enough people get behind the message then hopefully we can contribute positively towards this subject and turn our ripples into waves.
Who can argue with that? Enjoy the video, support the charity and remember that if you need help there is always someone around to help if you reach out.
