Here’s a great update for those of you into your bouncy pop/punk. Recent foursome (well, two plus their two kids) The Dollyrots had a great time working on the One Big Happy split album a couple of years back to the point that they’re going to revisit the concept.
For those who missed it, it was released around a tour featuring them, Patent Pending and headliners Bowling For Soup. Each band offered up three tracks – one new one and a cover of a song by each of the other two. Great idea. To round it off, Kelly from The Dollyrots and BFS’s Jaret did a duet on another new track, “Love ya, Love ya, Love ya”. This song is now available as a free download courtesy of The Dollyrots as a taster for their new project… an entire album co-written and co-sung by the pair.
No details on a release date as yet, but we’ll keep you informed. In the meantime, Bowling For Soup themselves just released a new (mildly NSFW) video for “Don’t Be A Dick” from current release Drunk Dynasty.
You just missed the band headlining the recent Slam Dunk festival tour, but frontman Jaret is heading back to the UK for a solo tour later in the year.
Completing the trilogy, Patent Pending have also just released a new video. We’re back to covers again, this one being from their recent Other People’s Greatest Hits album – a mash-up of Tiesto’s “Wasted” and Avicii’s “Wake Me Up”, with Ragosta saying:
It’s very common and very easy for people to overlook EDM music. We wanted to make these two songs rock so people who would much prefer rock to EDM could hear these tremendous melodies and catchy sing along parts it in a more familiar way.
