Since its first outing in 2012 Beermageddon has been a big supporter of the charity Rock Against Child Pornograpy & Abuse (RACPA), and they are regular attendees at the festival raising awareness, providing support, and of course raising funds to continue in their good work. Over the years they have had a close bond with the charity and this year have decided to record a charity single.
ALL proceeds go direct to RACPA. Want to know more about the charity? We love them to bits, too.
In true Beermageddon style the song, which bears a passing resemblance to the 70’s hit “Day Trip To Bangor” came about after Beermageddon head honcho Jim Beerman was chatting with friends over a few beers and jokingly put together some comedy lyrics tied to the festival, the idea being a fun singalong song with no real plans to take it any further. However “BIG” Ricky Kerr, who will be appearing at this year’s festival with the band Acid Trial, had different ideas. He went into BR Studios, and laid down the instrumentation. The song had the foundations to become something a little special and raise some funds for a charity close to our heart, made even more special that one of the volunteers for the charity, Maria Curtis, played a part in the writing process.
The song is available on Bandcamp, who have kindly given their lowest rates so as much of the money raised as possible goes directly to the charity.
Also there is a fantastic video accompanying the single that was kindly produced by Adam Harris at Seventh Sky Media. The video really encompasses the Beermageddon ethos.
