New Wintersun guitarist on guitars and joining the band

As was made known to the metal community last week, epic Finnish metal syndicate Wintersun revealed their newest member and second axeman Asim Searah. On the run-up to their third album The Forest Seasons, Asim has has spoken out on joining the band, playing guitar and more. Part 2 and part 3 of the interview have also been released recently by via Jari’s youtube channel and are available via the links.

Their third forthcoming studio release The Forest Seasons is currently undergoing a Crowdfunding campaign. A trailer for which including snippets of new material has been released via YouTube and can be seen here.

Guitarist Jari Mäenpää says this of Asim’s induction to the band:

We’ve known Asim for a long time and we knew that he is a great singer, but we didn’t realise just what a talented and skillful guitar player he is. Asim was actually the first one who sent us an audition video, which surprised us in a very positive way. After the video auditions and two rounds of live auditions we realised he was exactly what we were looking for. He is very motivated and passionate with a good heavy metal attitude – a great guitar player and vocalist to improve the live sound of Wintersun even further!

Asim also comments:

It’s an honour to be a part of a band that I have looked up to for many years. It’s definitely a dream come true and I’m super excited to share the stage with Wintersun!

As of yet, the band have no live dates for the next two months when they hit the European festival circuit including an appearance on Bloodstock’s Sophie Lancaster stage in August, plenty of time for Asim to learn the ropes of Wintersun.

The Forest Seasons is set for a July release through Nuclear Blast.
