Saturday Video Roundup: Circa Waves, Anderwelt, Can’t Swim, T.O.M.B., Super American, Imperial Triumphant

We’re upping the video count at the moment, as we’re getting more and more lovely music through the mail to tell you about. So from here on in, if we have ’em, you’ll be getting six a day. Plus, probably, the occasional catch-up. We bloody spoil you lot, we really do.

Circa Waves – “Fire That Burns”

Circa Waves reveal the video for “Fire That Burns”, the second single to be lifted from their upcoming album Different Creatures, released 10th March on Virgin EMI.

Starring SAG Award-nominee Isaac Hempstead Wright, best known as Bran Stark in Game Of Thrones, the “Fire That Burns” video is a thriller within a thriller within a thriller. Frontman Kieran Shudall stars as a sinister B-movie actor in a classic, Giallo-style horror, whose character commits a string of gruesome murders before the actor himself loses touch with reality and embarks on a bloodthirsty rampage. Morbid, unnerving and strangely fascinating, the short film sees Circa Waves continue along their heavier, grittier new path, shattering the boundaries of everything we’ve come to expect from them.

Anderwelt – “Trinity of Decay”

Austrian post/doom metal band Anderwelt have released their new video clip for the song “Trinity of Decay”. The video was directed by James Quinn, starring Heike Christiane Kotsios & Ralph Saml. The band was formed in 2013 in Linz, Austria by Markus Steinberger and Alexander Dornstauder. Their debut album Schattenlichter was released in 2015 and now the guys are really busy touring Europe and working on their second album.

Can’t Swim – “We Won’t Sleep”

New Jersey rock band Can’t Swim has announced plans to release a new album, Fail You Again, on March 10th with Pure Noise Records. You can pre-order the album via their online store.

T.O.M.B. – “Awake… DARKNESS”

US occult noise/black metal artists T.O.M.B. (Total Occultic Mechanical Blasphemy) have released a new video for the track “Awake…DARKNESS” which is taken from last year’s album Fury Nocturnes on Peaceville Records. On this latest offering, the band comments:

“Awake….DARKNESS” is a two song music video from our latest album Fury Nocturnus that was produced and directed by T.O.M.B. member Samantha Viola. The video reveals documentation from various field recording sessions for the album, as well as raw authentic footage from the project’s blasphemous audio history. The audience will find “no safety” within “Awake..DARKNESS”. No computer graphics, green screens or fictional imagery was used to create this video. The result is a chaotic collage of ritual necromantic noise acts; cryptic desecration, sacrilege, and a close communion with the dead, conducted with the true intent and conviction of unholy black metal.

Super American – “Sloppy Jazz”

We live in a weird point in time that seems to glorify being said, but you wouldn’t know it when listening to Super American. Disposable is a collection of songs that borrow from and build upon the building blocks laid by the pop rock of the 80s and 90s. One listen to “Sloppy Jazz” and the infectious “Na-na-na’s” that make up the chorus will recall the likes of “Angel is a Centerfold” and leave you singing along, smiling from ear to ear.

Imperial Triumphant – “Breath of Innocence”

New York City-based avant-death collective Imperial Triumphant have been on a roll for several years now. Moving from strength to strength with each horrifying and strange new effort the group puts out.The band have just launched an eerie music video for “Breath of Innocence”. The video was crafted by director Brendan McGowan, who played the lead in last year’s “Square Hammer” video from perennial favorites Ghost.

The song itself comes from last year’s critically lauded EP, Inceste.
