Wednesday Video Roundup: Sewer Rats, Beyond The Black, Valerie June, Ghost Iris

Tonight’s the big Sabaton show in Glasgow and there will be a big Moshville Times presence there. To warm up the neck muscles, here’s a nice varied selection of new videos.

Sewer Rats – “Mother Acid”

Grimsby-based psych-grunge threesome, Sewer Rats are ready to unleash their awesome, fully-charged sonic devastation into the world with the arrival of their new “Mother Acid” video. These lads were swamp-fed on a raw diet of proper grunge and balls-out thrash – it’s like freakin’ Motorhead-meets-Mudhoney and Melvins. Or something. Man.

Beyond The Black – “Lost In Forever”

As covered in our “Road To Bloodstock 2016” interview, Beyond The Black would be completely rejigging their lineup, and they’re now back – and with a new video. Joining founding frontwoman Jennifer Haben are Christian Hermsdörfer (guitar & backing vocals), Tobias Lodes (guitar & backing vocals), Jonas Roßner (keyboards & backing vocals), Stefan Kerkenhoff (bass) and Kai Tschierschky (drums).

The power-packed sextet have been confirmed to support Epica and Powerwolf on their upcoming European tour, which includes a stop at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 3rd February.

Valerie June – “Shakedown”

Valerie June has shared the new video for “Shakedown” today. The powerful, electric track comes off her highly anticipated second full-length solo album, The Order of Time, due March 10th, 2017 from Concord Records. Directed by Steven Lippman (Bowie, Laurie Anderson), the video shows June and her band in tight formation flooded in blue and green lighting, swept up by the song’s relentless, infectious rhythm.

The video is a tribute June’s father Emerson Hockett, who contributed vocals to “Shakedown” and passed away late last year. The track also features backup vocals from June’s brothers as well as Norah Jones.

Ghost Iris – “Pinnacle”

Long Branch Records’ newest signing Ghost Iris have released the first single and video “Pinnacle” from their upcoming album Blind World, which is set for release on 17 February. The single is available as a grat-track on iTunes and Amazon and as stand-alone single on all other digital platforms.
