Yeah, so I took Sunday off. I also had Pot Noodle for dinner – it was one of those days. So allow me to sooth your ears with metal as I sooth my guts with food that’s not made from parcel tape and wallpaper paste.
Falls – “Get Well Soon”
Some great bouncy heavy rock (or “f%ck rock” as the band themselves style it) from Falls to begin your week. A great video, too, done in the style of one of those retrospective Top of the Pops shows. “Get Well Soon” is taken from the EPÂ One Hundred Percent Strong which came out last Friday.
Doro – “Raise Your Fist In The Air (Live At Wacken)”
Doro herself needs no introduction so I’ll just tell you about the live album/DVD that spawns this track. It’s called Strong and Proud – 30 Years Of Rock And Metal and it’s out on June 24th. On the strength of this song, it’s got to be in the wish list.
Patriot Rebel – “Self Hate”
Nottingham rockers Patriot Rebel have a new EP blasting your way on June 3rd. Entitled Cynics Playground, it’s sounding promising if the other tracks can match up to this one. They’re also popping up in various cities over the next couple of months: 27th May – Nottingham, Rescue Rooms (EP Launch Show); 16th June – Manchester, Grand Central; 18th June – Edinburgh, Bannermans; 19th June – Glasgow, Shadow Sound; 28th July – Newcastle, Trillians; 29th July – Bolton, Alma Inn.
Vly – “Silver Beaches”
Finishing off with a chill-out track from multinational prog rockers Vly. Taken from their new album I / (Time), “Silver Beaches” is a beautiful track to lie back and relax to over lunch before you realise you still have half the day to go. Sorry about that.
