No, I’m not doing another “…of the day” feature. I can’t. I don’t have time. But if I did, then I’d definitely consider doing a cover song each day.
I love a good cover. One that takes the original and shapes it into another form, putting the covering artist’s own spin on things. If you’re going to take a song by someone else and play it, don’t try and sound like the original (unless you’re a tribute act).
Granted, it’s going to be more difficult if you play in the same genre/style as the original artist. But that’s where it’s great to jump right out of your comfort zone and pick a song to cover that’s just completely unlike your own material.
