Single Review: Weight Bearer – Crimson

I really don’t get the chance to do all the reviews I wish I could, or let you know about all the excellent unsigned, independent talent that we love to support. So I’m really glad that I found a little window in my schedule to be able to draft a few words about this absolute behemoth from Weight Bearer.

Hailing from Preston, Weight Bearer profess to “forge a soundtrack to these bleak times”, and on the basis of “Crimson” they certainly know what bleak is. Mind, coming from Preston they have an unfair advantage… The track kicks in with a nice, slow, bass-led rhythm. Plenty of twang and then some distortion during the dual harsh-vocal attack.

It’s not all Sabbath-heavy doomery though. Throughout, there are faster flurries designed to get those pits going. It’s the kind of stuff you can listen to at home, slowly clenching your fists and nodding your head; or you could watch these guys on stage and go mental with a bunch of like-minded violent friends. Around the two minute mark you can expect much synchronised headbanging.

If this is a sign of things to come from Weight Bearer then it’s a damn good sign indeed.
