Single Review: Twiggy Branches – The Radiant Twist

When we featured Twiggy Branches as a Band of the Day back in 2017, Nick described them as “quirky, punkish, and catchy as hell”. Having given their latest single, “The Radiant Twist” a listen, nothing much has changed!

Recorded live in the studio (as all of their material is), it’s surprising how clear the production is, though this takes nothing away from the raucous rock n’ roll nature of the song. The opening bars hit my memory with a sneak attack and it took me a while to twig that, unfairly or not, they reminded me of Bowie’s “Suffragette City”. Once I’d got managed to push that out of my mind, it was easy to kick back and thoroughly enjoy “The Radiant Twist”.

It’s a simple little number, bouncy, well-performed and great fun to listen to. To the likes of the Mashed Potato, the Time Warp and the Shimmy you can now add The Radiant Twist!
