Single Review: Crystal Tides – Monday

Crystal Tides, it just screams summer doesn’t it? These are a band that do exactly what it says on the tin, and latest single “Monday” is no exception. Released this Friday 29 May, it’s already making waves with the likes of Radio X already giving it a spin.

The band tell us:

“Monday” is about the turning point in life where the band is starting to realise we are not as young as we used to be. We can’t keep going out like we used to but there’s an internal battle you have of ‘am I too old old for this?’ or ‘You only live once, why not?!’. Ultimately it’s about pushing aside the responsibilities of real life and having fun.

Full of catchy riffs and infectious choruses “Monday” will have you hooked in no time, singing along and grinning from ear to ear. Billy Gregory’s vocals are sublime, it’s a real mood lifter. OK so the band aren’t trying to reinvent the wheel here, I’m instantly reminded of bands such as The Vaccines, Franz Ferdinand and Catfish and the Bottlemen with its classic indie rock formula, but that’s what makes it so great, just four guys playing their hearts out having the time of their lives  and it’s just begging to be played live in a field somewhere.

So throw caution to the wind this weekend, give “Monday” a spin, it’ll brighten your day I promise.
