Single Review: Y!KES – Shadow Gallery

Not content with three singles, a string of shows and a summer of festivals, alt-rockers Y!KES are serving up another slab of grunge poppiness in latest single “Shadow Gallery”.

The video and lyrics work in harmony bringing a thought-provoking track about dementia and how we should all grab life by the balls. Featuring pop legend Tony “(Is This The Way To) Amarillo” Christie as a grown up version of vocalist Joby Fitzgerald, it really hammers home the person that was there before dementia sets in, how life is screaming by and not to waste one minute of it.

Loud and dreamy, the shoegaze vibe of this track puts it as my favourite track of theirs to date.

If you want to feature in their next video, you can hop along to The Asylum 2, Birmingham on the 16th August, it’s sure to be as fun as all the rest!

Or you can catch the guys on one of these other dates at a town near you!

  • 11th August – Statfold Barn Festival, Tamworth
  • 16th August – The Asylum 2, Birmingham (Headline show/Video shoot)
  • 7th September – Macmillan Festival, Nottingham
  • 7th November – Hard Rock Hell Festival, Great Yarmouth
